GNOME 3.30

The default graphical environment in Fedora 29 is GNOME version 3.30 (Almería), which brings a substantial number of updates over earlier versions. Some of the enhancements include:

  • Improved desktop performance and better resource utilization.

  • Better control of screen sharing and remote desktop sessions.

  • Automatic updates for installed Flatpaks.

  • A minimal reader view in the Web integrated browser.

  • The Boxes virtual machine manager can now connect to remote Windows sessions using Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP).

  • New panel in Settings for managing Thunderbolt devices.

  • The Disks storage manager can now decrypt and mount storage encrypted using VeraCrypt.

  • A new Podcasts app allowing you to subscribe and listen to your favorite podcasts as well as import them from other devices.
